1 Month Pictures

So on E's One Month Day I took tons of pictures (83 to be exact) and these are the ones I thought turned out cute - only 1/8 of the pictures taken... We're taking a poll (on the side) of which picture(s) are the cutest - you can select more than one. The number above the picture corresponds to the number in the poll - you have until May 1st to vote.

(1) This blanket was given to us by people at work/school.
(2) I love this expression!
(3) He looks so serious!
(4) This smile is just so cute!
(5) This next picture shows how he likes to position his legs most of the time...
(6) He is just too cute, and this picture shows how his pants usually look because of his love to have his legs like the above picture (sometimes in his pajamas he would manage to get both of his legs into one leghole.)
(7) He looks like he is seeing something like a spider in this one...
(8) I just love this one!
(9) I love how cute his expression is in this one.
(10) Last one!

Just me and my Dad!

So I wanted to surprise my Dad and let him know how much I love playing with him. Yesterday when he got home we spent some quality time together. You can tell by this picture that he really loves it too...

It was really fun to be able to play with him.

And for some reason, he loves to play with my nose... Just wait Dad, I'll be able to bonk your nose soon too!

I really love playing with Daddy...

(I'd like to thank Mommy for helping me with this post :)

Why do we do this to ourselves?

So I was thinking the other day about why we have babies. Think about it, for 9 months we are miserable - morning sickness, lack of energy, inability to sleep comfortably, inability to move around normally, having to find clothes that don't make you feel like you're dressing an Elephant (exaggeration I know), feeling like a beached whale trying to get out of bed in the morning (and at various times during the night to go to the bathroom), extreme heartburn (yes I was taking 2 zantac 150's and tums and mylanta during the last few weeks of my pregnancy), hip pain, stretch marks, etc. Not to mention the financial stuff, like buying all the stuff a baby needs (my how the apartment has shrunk!)

Then we go through this extremely physically demanding thing known as labor (which for some is quicker than others - but who is complaining that they were in labor for 27 hours?) in which we deliver a baby through an opening that use to be the size of a pencil eraser. We go through recovery from childbirth while taking care of this baby who is completely dependent upon us. We wake up every 2-4 hours through the night to feed this child, change diapers, burp them, and try to put them back to sleep. We deal with sore muscles from bouncing/walking the baby around to help them sleep/make them stop fussing.
Some of us are lucky enough to get tendonitis from holding the baby while bouncing him and have to wear a wrist brace for a week (maybe longer if it comes back).
So why do we do this to ourselves? Because we have some natural desire to reproduce (probably part of it)? Because we want to be grateful and understand what our parents did for us? Or because we know that even with all that we go through, we know that we have the
most adorable baby in the whole world and holding them makes our heart melt. Then we know
that all the pain, suffering, heartache, exhaustion is all worth it.

The last week

So another week has gone by, E went to the Dr. on Tuesday and is now 9 lbs 4 oz. We're happy he's growing, and now he is alert more of the time so we get to see his beautiful eyes! We have got some good pictures of him...

Pondering the mysteries of life.

Staring at his mother... I really love this picture.

My two guys... Daniel is such a great father. He is so excited to have a baby, and E is really good at distracting Daddy so he doesn't get everything he needs to done.

Bath time! E can't believe we're taking pictures of him in the bathtub!

This picture doesn't do his part justice... he looks like he should be ready for school pictures.

Just hanging out.

Isn't he just too cute? (Of course I'm not biased in any way...)
